Jasper, at just 7kg, is a ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ด ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐. ๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ ๐ณ๐๐น๐น ๐ผ๐ณ ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ, ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑโ๐ผ๐ป, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐, ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐น๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ. He is looking for a new home as his owner feels he would thrive with someone more active who can provide clear, consistent boundaries to help him blossom.
Jasperโs main challenge is his reactivity on the lead. He lunges and barks when other dogs or people pass him on the road, and his ownerโs mobility scooter limits her ability to position herself effectively during training. One of our volunteers walked Jasper to assess this firstโhand. They encountered an equally reactive small dog, resulting in a predictable โbarkโoffโ. However, once our ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด, ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑโ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐, ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐น๐บ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ถ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐. He managed easy passes with walkers and dogs and seemed to enjoy the training.
Away from the pavements and into woodland, where Jasper is usually offโlead, our volunteers used a long line. ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐บ๐น๐, ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐ป, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฑ. His recall was good, and his reactivity appeared workable with consistent training.
Jasper is loving, friendly and very excited to meet new people. He is puppyโlike in his manners and lacks boundaries around jumping up and climbing onto furniture, but these are predictable behaviours that will improve quickly with consistent guidance. He ๐บ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ, ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐บ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด ๐๐ผ ๐ต๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ ๐ด๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ต๐ถ๐บ, though he is also comfortable as an only dog.
Jasper is a fun, affectionate dog who will bring a lot of joy to whoever takes him under their wing. With investment in training, he will become a wellโmannered, confident companion.
