2. Acceptance Of These Terms

By using this website, submitting a form, making an enquiry, applying to adopt, applying to foster, making a donation or contacting Second Chance Spaniel Rescue, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use this website or submit information through it.

3. Use Of This Website

You agree to use this website lawfully and responsibly.

You must not:

• Submit false, misleading or incomplete information
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems
• Use the website to transmit harmful, abusive or unlawful material
• Interfere with the security or operation of the website
• Copy, misuse or exploit website content without permission

4. Information On This Website

We make reasonable efforts to keep information on this website accurate and up to date. However, information may change without notice.

Dog profiles, availability, adoption status, behaviour information, health details and location information are provided in good faith but may change as we learn more about each dog.

Nothing on this website guarantees that a dog is available, suitable for a particular home, or that an application will be successful.

5. Adoption Process

Submitting an adoption application does not guarantee adoption of a dog.

The adoption process may include:

• Reviewing the dog’s profile and requirements
• Submitting an application form
• Application review by the SCSR team
• Additional questions or follow-up contact
• Home check, either virtual or in person
• Meet and greet where appropriate
• Final approval by Second Chance Spaniel Rescue
• Completion of adoption paperwork and payment of the adoption fee

SCSR reserves the right to refuse, pause, withdraw or decline any adoption application where it believes this is in the best interests of the dog, the applicant, the rescue or animal welfare.

6. Adoption Decisions

All adoption decisions are made at the discretion of Second Chance Spaniel Rescue.

Decisions are based on the needs of the dog, the information provided by the applicant, home circumstances, resident animals, experience, safety, welfare and suitability.

SCSR is not obliged to provide detailed reasons for declining an application.

7. Applicant Responsibilities

Adoption, fostering and surrender applicants must provide honest, accurate and complete information.

Applicants must tell SCSR about:

• All adults and children living in the household
• Resident animals
• Working hours and time away from home
• Garden security and home environment
• Relevant animal experience
• Behavioural, health or safety concerns
• Any changes in circumstances during the application process

Providing false or misleading information may result in an application being rejected or an adoption/foster arrangement being withdrawn.

8. Adopter Responsibilities

Approved adopters are responsible for providing a safe, suitable and loving home for the dog.

Adopters must comply with the adoption agreement and any specific conditions set by SCSR.

Adopters are responsible for ongoing care, including food, exercise, training, routine veterinary care, insurance where appropriate, and meeting the dog’s welfare needs.

Dogs adopted from SCSR must not be sold, given away, transferred or rehomed without the involvement and consent of Second Chance Spaniel Rescue.

9. Rescue Backup

Second Chance Spaniel Rescue provides rescue backup for dogs adopted through the rescue.

If an adopter can no longer keep a dog adopted from SCSR, they must contact the rescue. The dog must not be privately rehomed, sold or passed to another person without SCSR involvement.

10. Adoption Fees

Adoption fees help cover rescue costs including veterinary care, vaccinations, neutering, transport, behaviour support and the ongoing operation of the rescue.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and are normally non-refundable once an adoption has been completed, unless otherwise agreed by SCSR in exceptional circumstances.

SCSR does not offer payment plans unless specifically agreed in writing.

11. Fostering Process

Applying to foster does not guarantee approval as a foster carer or guarantee that a dog will be placed with you.

The fostering process may include:

• Completion of a foster application form
• Review by the SCSR team
• Home check
• Discussion about experience and suitability
• Matching with an appropriate dog
• Ongoing support from SCSR

Foster placements are made based on the needs of each dog and the suitability of the foster home.

12. Fosterer Responsibilities

Fosterers are expected to provide day-to-day care, safety, routine, exercise, basic training and honest updates about the dog in their care.

Fosterers must follow SCSR guidance and must not rehome, sell, transfer, breed from, or make major decisions about the dog without SCSR approval.

Veterinary treatment must be discussed with and authorised by SCSR unless there is an emergency where immediate treatment is required to protect the dog’s welfare.

13. Surrender Process

Submitting a surrender form does not guarantee that SCSR can accept a dog into rescue.

Surrender requests are reviewed based on available foster space, the dog’s needs, urgency, safety, welfare, behaviour, medical circumstances and the rescue’s capacity.

Owners surrendering a dog must provide accurate and complete information about the dog’s health, behaviour, history, ownership, microchip details and any known risks.

14. Owner Responsibilities When Surrendering

Until a dog is formally accepted into SCSR care, the current owner remains responsible for the dog’s care, welfare, safety and legal responsibilities.

SCSR may decline a surrender request or suggest alternative support where it is unable to assist.

15. Donations

Donations made to Second Chance Spaniel Rescue support the work of the charity and the dogs in our care.

Donations are generally non-refundable unless made in error or where required by law.

Where Gift Aid is claimed, donors are responsible for ensuring they meet HMRC eligibility requirements.

16. Payments And Third-Party Providers

Payments, donations or checkout functions may be processed by third-party payment providers.

SCSR is not responsible for technical issues, delays or failures caused by third-party payment systems, although we will make reasonable efforts to help resolve any issue.

17. Volunteer-Run Organisation

Second Chance Spaniel Rescue is volunteer-run. While we aim to respond to enquiries as quickly as possible, response times may vary depending on volunteer availability, volume of enquiries and rescue priorities.

Urgent animal welfare matters may take priority over general enquiries.

18. Behaviour And Communication

We expect all users, applicants, adopters, fosterers, surrenderers, volunteers and supporters to communicate respectfully.

SCSR reserves the right to stop communication, decline applications or refuse further engagement where behaviour is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, dishonest or inappropriate.

19. Animal Welfare

The welfare of dogs is the primary consideration in all rescue decisions.

SCSR may take action it considers necessary to protect a dog’s welfare, including refusing an application, delaying an adoption, requesting further checks, seeking veterinary advice, or requiring a dog to be returned under the terms of an agreement.

20. Website Availability

We aim to keep the website available and functioning, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

We may update, suspend or remove parts of the website at any time.

21. External Links

This website may contain links to external websites or third-party services.

SCSR is not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices or availability of external websites.

22. Intellectual Property

Website content, text, images, branding, designs and materials belong to Second Chance Spaniel Rescue or are used with permission.

Content must not be copied, reproduced, republished or used for commercial purposes without permission.

23. Data Protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and GDPR & Data Protection page.

By submitting forms or contacting SCSR, you agree that your information may be used for the relevant rescue, administrative or charitable purpose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

SCSR is not responsible for loss or damage caused by misuse of the website, reliance on outdated information, third-party services, external websites, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Updated terms will be published on this page. Continued use of the website after changes are made means you accept the updated terms.
