Willsโ€™ Story

Resilience In Every Step

At just 11 months old, Wills came into our care heartbreakingly underweight at just 9kg โ€” below a healthy weight for his breed and age. His elderly owners only had Wills for 48 hours but, overwhelmed by his anxiety and reactivity, had to relinquish him. Shut down, lame, and clearly in pain, Wills was diagnosed with blunt force trauma and a luxating patella.

Sadly, that was just the beginning.

After surgery to correct his patella, Wills tore his cruciate ligament, requiring another operation. Then came total lameness in his other hind leg: another patella surgery, another cruciate repair, and another six months of recovery. When he finally stood again, his knee cartilage had to be shaved to relieve lingering pain.

In total, Wills endured five major surgeries and now walks on metal-supported hind legs. But youโ€™d never know it โ€” heโ€™s full of life, joy, and love for his fur sister Bonnie.

Wills was adopted by our founder, Karen, who has a very soft spot for black and white springers. Wills loves life and the freedom of the Welsh mountain walks, just being a spaniel. Often found in water, nothing holds this sweet boy back.
