Millie, Cocker Spaniel

Rescued, Millie was a breeding bitch.  She's the most loving dog I could have ever asked for and it's all down to SCSR.

Thank you.

Once again I cannot thank SCSR enough for pairing us with this marvellous boy. When he came to us on foster he was an anxious wee lad named Benny and I truly think he is blossoming into his confidence as the new and adventurous Buachaille. You have made our family complete. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thanks to the prompt action and organisation of SCSR we were able to help with the rescue of a cocker spaniel who was only days away from the threat of euthanasia.

SCSR have never considered a dog’s age, background, behavioural issues or change in family circumstances to be a bar to rescue/rehoming and have never shied away from attending to the medical care the dogs brought under their care may require. Our spaniel – since adopted by us - was a neglected working spaniel due to be disposed of as his financially useful working life was drawing to a close. Aside from neglect he was an otherwise healthy boy and SCSR recognised that he was deserving of a safe and loving forever home. To us he is the most gentle, loving and loyal companion but without the timely intervention of SCSR his fate would sadly have been very different.

Shadow (formerly Jet)

Second Chance Spaniel Rescue are a small rescue run by a team of dedicated volunteers, who only have the dog’s interest in mind when they choose fosters or adopters. We were blessed in December 2020 when we were chosen to foster Jet. Within days it was obvious to us that we would be failures as fosterers and we chose to adopt Jet in early January.  This turned out to be the best decision we ever made. Jet (now Shadow) has settled in and is a very happy well mannered dog, all the people he meets on his walks are drawn to him and fuss him. He laps this up.  Without Second Chance Spaniel Rescue none of us would be in this happy position.

Thank you and good luck for future rescue successes. We hope many more needy dogs can find a happy future through your dedication

I can't thank you all enough for picking me to be her dog mum.

She's such a character and we all adore her. Mum and my boyfriend Ben said from day 1 that you couldn't have matched me with a more perfect dog, she's just like me - bossy, stubborn but super-duper affectionate.

Harry a Corfu dog

We had been looking to rehome a spaniel for nearly a year and finally succeeded with Harry in February 2020 , just before the first lockdown . The whole process from the home visit to finally collecting the puppy was well managed by SCSR . Harry would even have been dropped off in Wales but our daughter

was having an operation on the same day . No problem for Dave , the gentlemen who drove all the puppies from Corfu , he took him in for a few days until We could collect him . There’s always been excellent support since should it be needed for things such as registering the chip and the pros and cons of various pet insurance providers .

Tally

Tally came to SCSR as a 2 day old pup long with her siblings, Ross, Dolly and Zeus. They were all hand reared by members of our amazing team and adopted at 12 weeks old

George - long term foster

Meet George! We saw a post from SCSR asking for an urgent foster home for this 10 year old boy, Gentle George. We lived locally so took our resident spaniel to meet George and brought him back to our home the following day. We were aware from the beginning that George has a complex medical issue. The first couple of weeks was difficult but SCSR were a constant support to us. They truly care for the dogs in their care and they put their heart and soul into helping dogs in need, 24/7 and are an amazing dedicated team of volunteers.

George needed surgery to help his condition and the team and their amazing supporters raised enough money to help. He’s much happier and comfortable since his procedure and is a much happier, settled, affectionate boy who is a joy to have around.

The SCSR team are absolute angels and will do anything to help the dogs in their care. George has a home with us for as long as he needs one and we have regular support and contact with SCSR. We couldn’t do it without them.
