Volunteering

Second Chance Spaniel Rescue is run solely by unpaid volunteers.

Our volunteers are the backbone of the Rescue and without their support we would not be able to do the work that we do.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please get in contact with Kerry or Karen at SecondChanceSpanielRescue explaining why you’d like to volunteer and what you think you could offer to the team.

Volunteer stories

Kim - I adopted Millie from SCSR and offered to help set up our home checking team. Kim works with a band of committed volunteers undertaking mostly virtual home checks via video conferencing. Volunteers to the home check team are asked to spare a few hours each week to carry out home checks for us. Volunteers are buddied up with an experienced home checker and shadow until they feel confident enough to carry out a home check unaided.

Julie - I have always enjoyed doing home checks and when I saw that SCSR were expanding their team I applied. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and have owned spaniels for many years so being able to combine the two was a great opportunity. Since joining the team, I have met some incredible people, made some really good friends and have become part of an amazing team. Volunteering for a dog rescue isn’t all happy endings, there are sad days, tough days but being able to make a difference makes it all worth it.
