About Us

Second Chance Spaniel Rescue was set up in November 2019, by a group of experienced spaniel loving owners. We are a non-profit organisation who Rescue,  Assess,  Rehabilitate and then Rehome.

Our mission is to help as many spaniels and their crosses in the UK and abroad who need a new start in life to find their loving forever home.

Dogs come to SCSR for rehoming for a variety of reasons. We are a non judgement rescue who just want to help people who are faced with the awful predicament of having to find their beloved dog a new home, irrespective of location,as we operate UK mainland-wide.

Our fantastic team has over 90 years experience with dogs, understanding an array of dog issues ranging in complexity.

All our dogs are placed in experienced foster homes for assessment prior to adoption (not kennels) and all our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered (age and behaviour depending), wormed, flead and vet checked prior to adoption.

We are also a non-destructive rescue. We will never put a dog to sleep unless it's on the advice of a vet and/or a qualified behaviourist.

We take every applicant and home on its own merit, we don't have blanket bans, for example:

If a dog has been with children, assessed as child friendly by us, then we will rehome that dog in a home with children.

  • If you work, so long as you have proof of a dog walker/sitter in place, to cover your work pattern, we are happy for you to adopt.
  • If you are a senior, whilst a puppy/young dog may not be the right ‘time of life’ fit, we may have older dogs looking for their happy retirement home.
  • If due to medical reasons your existing dog can’t be neutered, please chat to us about adopting a neutered dog from us.
  • If you have a cat that’s dog friendly, so long as our dog is ‘cat assessed as friendly’ you can apply.
  • We don't have an age restriction on placing a dog with very young children, providing the dog has previously lived with children and assessed with children and there have been no issues.

We rely solely on our team of volunteers and on donations and adoption fees to run our rescue. All money raised is spent on the welfare of the dogs in our care.
