Adoption Process

Adoption Process

It is important to note that we don't find dogs for people rather we find homes for our dogs. There is a difference and it relies upon you to regularly check into our Facebook Page (link) to see dogs as they become available for adoption; if you meet the needs of the dogs only then should you apply.

  1. Please read the assessment and selection criteria carefully for the dog you are interested in. Make sure you can meet the needs of the dog fully. As we are a country-wide rescue, make sure the location of the dog is convenient as you will be expected to visit the dog for an initial 'Meet & Greet'  as well as later go to collect the dog.

  2. Complete the online application form by clicking on the link embedded in the dog write-up.  Failure to provide complete and thorough answers will result in your application being rejected.

  3. All applications are reviewed and a short list of up to 3 applicants, (who best meet the needs of the dog), made. Due to the volume of applications we are not able to respond individually.  If you have not been contacted within 2 weeks you should assume your application has not been successful this time for this dog.

  4. Short-listed applicants will be contacted to discuss their application further. If the application(s) proceeds ...........

  5. A member of our Homecheck team will contact you to book your home check.  This maybe a visit to your home or conducted by a video call.  We ask that all household members who will be living with the dog, are present during the home check.   We will ask for Photo ID, proof of address, a tour of your garden, paying attention to fences and security. We will ask you to involve all household members on the call.  If you live in rented accommodation we will need written permission from your landlord to you homing a dog.

  6. Once successfully homechecked you will be able to speak directly with the foster carer to arrange a dog-date at a suitable location.  Ideally all household members should attend along with any current dog(s).  After the initial meet and greet if the fosterer is happy with how the meeting went and you are happy with the dog, we will email over the adoption contract.

  7. Once the signed adoption contract is received back and the adoption fee is paid, contact the fosterer to arrange a 2nd meeting and collection of the dog. With your adoption contract there is a "what to expect" guide on how to help you settle in your new adopted dog. Please take time to read this (link).

Pet Insurance

We highly recommend that you take out insurance for your dog to coincide with thecollection of your dog. We are unable to help with costs once your dog has been adopted (other than those we explicity agree to eg neutering, vaccinations etc.

Please note; our adoption process for overseas dogs differs slightly from the above. Please click here to read more
