Rehoming

Rehoming/Relinquishing your dog to SCSR

We are sorry that you are having to consider giving up your dog. We know the decision can not have been easy. We are here to help.

We know that life sometimes does not go to plan and things don’t always work out as hoped, including owning a dog. If you think you may need to give your dog up for rehoming, why not give us a call on 07859736821 or 07955034532 during working hours to have an informal chat.

We appreciate circumstances often change beyond ones control and we fully understand that you are putting the needs and the welfare of your dog first.

We understand there are many reasons why you might have to rehome your dog; changes in working hours, an illness or death in the family, divorce, onset of allergies, becoming suddenly homeless. Then there maybe factors specifically to do with the dog such as medical or behavioural issues that require you to rehome your canine friend.  We will try to help irrespective of the reason, all that we ask is for you to be completely honest with us for the benefit of your dogs future.

We know this is a tough decision and we won’t judge you for needing to find your dog a new home. Asking us for help is the most responsible thing you can do for your dog.

If you have come to the final decision that you need to rehome your dog, then please complete the surrender request form (link) providing us with as much information on your dog as possible. We need to know the truth about the circumstances surrounding rehoming your dog, so that we can make an informed decision and give you the best advice. For example, if your dog has behavioural issues, and/or has bitten, please tell us. We won't necessarily say no based on this. It's essential that we keep everyone safe and place your dog in the most experienced and appropriate foster home that can deal with your dog's specific needs.

We do not have kennels and all dogs coming to us are placed with one of our experienced foster homes throughout the UK. Here the dog is closely assessed for a minimum of 3 weeks, before being placed up for adoption.

On giving up your dog to SCSR for rehoming, while not obligatory, a donation would be greatly appreciated.
